Full-time, permanent position

City Gallery Wellington is seeking an energetic Public Programmes Co-ordinator to assist with the development and delivery of our busy events programme, including our flagship Tuatara Open Late programme.

We’re looking for an intelligent and creative person who has a broad, deep and abiding interest in – and infectious energy for – the arts, particularly contemporary art.

As someone with a background in cultural events, you will thrive on the challenge of working within a small team to assist the Manager Visitor Learning in the development and delivery of a lively and diverse public programme to complement our exhibitions.

The schedule of gallery talks, lectures, forums, screenings, readings, performances, workshops, tours and other events you’ll help deliver will extend visitors’ understanding and appreciation of the art we show.  From artist talks to Open Lates, keynote lectures to flash mobs, the events will range from broad appeal to specialist, serving diverse audiences from tots to Professors.

Your excellent organisational skills will facilitate the smooth running of the events programme. You’ll be required to build positive working relationships with artists, academics, art collectors, curators, musicians, cultural commentators, community organisations and groups.

Excellent communication and planning skills are vital in this role. You will need to be a confident and engaging public speaker – part of delivering the events is being one of the public faces of the Gallery.

We will welcome your innovative ideas, proactive approach, and your positive response to challenges.

The position involves regular evening and weekend work.

The closing date for applications is Wednesday 15 April, 5pm.
