Gallery Educator Māori
Part-time, fixed-term position (20 hours per week)
City Gallery Wellington is currently looking for a Gallery Educator, Māori to develop and deliver programmes for our successful school education service.
This is an opportunity to join a closely-knit team making a special contribution to an organisation which has placed Wellington and New Zealand firmly on the
international cultural map.
You'll be a great communicator who is passionate about making art accessible for young audiences. You’ll be competent in teaching in both English and Te Reo Māori (total fluency is not required) and have good knowledge of tikanga and toi Māori. You'll be committed to growing Gallery relationships within te ao Māori. A background in the arts or a qualification in Art or Art History is highly desirable.
Your role at the Gallery will be focused around the needs of Māori students from immersion, bilingual and mainstream education and you’ll also deliver education programmes to mainstream primary and secondary school students. These programmes will include exhibition tours, outreach and practical art workshops. You’ll collaborate in the writing and development of education resources, and be involved in administration, reporting, promotion and evaluation of education programmes.
This is a part time, fixed-term position (20 hours per week until 30 June 2014).
