The Michael Hirschfeld Gallery is City Gallery Wellington’s space devoted to exhibiting work by Wellington-based artists and designers. Exhibitions in the Michael Hirschfeld Gallery focus on current work and cross many art forms including painting, sculpture, photography, mixed media, video, architecture, fashion design, furniture design, jewellery and graphic design. With a new exhibition every month, there is always something new and fresh to be seen.

The Michael Hirschfeld Gallery was established in 1999 to honour the memory of Michael Hirschfeld (1944—1999). Michael was a founding member of the Wellington Museums Trust, a member of the Wellington Sculpture Trust and chairman of Circa Theatre. The Michael Hirschfeld Gallery stands as a memorial to a man of extraordinary insight, generosity and fervour, and recognises his contribution to the arts, and commitment to City Gallery Wellington.
