Rita Angus: Live to Paint and Paint to Live
Rita Angus is one of New Zealand's best known artists. This catalogue offers a fresh insight into the artist's working life, and explores recurrent themes and ideas in her painting. A particular focus is the extraordinary series of self-portraits which chronicle the artist's continual reinvention of herself over thirty years. Complementing these iconic images are important examples of her landscape, cityscape and still life painting, which together offer a compelling introduction to the artist and her world.
Published by Godwit/Random House in association with City Gallery Wellington and Hocken Library Dunedin.
